Last week our therapist was fortunate to continue her studies in biodynamic craniosacral therapy with Roger Gilchrist from the Wellness Institute as part of the diploma. As part of this, we wanted to give you a brief low-down on the 5 principles that underpin the field of biodynamic craniosacral therapy: 1. Holism: This is the main guiding principle. Everyone is whole and complete. 2. Bioenergy: Every person has life force energy. In biodynamic craniosacral therapy, we tune into the energy via the body's fluid system. 3. Inherent Treatment Plan: Each person subconsciously knows what needs to happen in order for them to heal themselves. "There is a method to the madness" as the saying goes. 4. Inertia organises stress: When the body is under stress, there are a number of ways for the body to deal with it - to "shake it off" or to "freeze" (think of a deer in headlights). The "freezing" is more like compressing the stress/trauma into something manageable and storing it in the body. This "freezing" generally leads to some sort of dis-function. 5. Healing happens in the present: This pretty much speaks for itself. As Eckhart Tolle usually says, the only time is in the present! Not the past or the future - right now. Based on the above principles, biodynamic craniosacral therapy is a great alternative therapy to allow you to reset your own physiology in your own unique way.
