Трепетно отношусь ко всему еврейскому. И тема евреев течет сквозь мою жизнь подобно Тибру и крови внутри: незаметно и постоянно.
Еврейский квартал города Рима. Нынче - самое защищенное, безопасное место, где всюду видеокамеры.
В патиссерии La Dolceroma работают пожилой пекарь Стефано Чецарелли (Stefano Ceccarelli) и его подмастерье Диего из Эквадора.
Семья Стефано живет в Риме с 1922 года, когда его дед приехал сюда молодым и дерзким. Бабушка, уличная кухарка, мешала масло в чане посреди квартала евреев.
Во времена второй мировой войны в их двери стучали зубастые капитаны. Огромные сапоги по ночам оставляли песок и грязь на полу дома.
Облава врывалась в спальню, видела крест над кроватью и извинялась: "Мы думали, вы евреи". А тем временем под кроватью, в шкафах, везде, где только могла быть укрытие, затаивали дыхание соседи, друзья, знакомые - столько, сколько могло. Тысячи людей были увезены в концлагеря. Чецарелли успели многих спасти.
Однажды после облавы, переждав, дедушка Стефано хотел увести семью евреев в безопасное место по улице в сторону Капитолия. И тут же, за углом дома, их схватили. Чецарелли уговорил полицию: все арестованные сняли с рук и ушей украшения, отдали их в мохнатые и когтистые лапы, и были отпущены с миром. Капитан уже знал, что Чецарелли прячут у себя евреев, но скрыл это место в памяти позолотой.
Позже, после войны, семья Стефано была награждена за помощь, оказанную гонимым. Я попросила показать мне фотографии дедушки и бабушки, которые не боялись действовать из сочувствия.
Чуть позже опубликую и их, и фото самого Стефано. Потому что это важно - помнить тех, кто готов помочь другим.
Чецарелли не изменились с тех пор: Стефано готовит самый вкусный хлеб из полбы с темным шоколадом и венский добосторт и бесплатно угощает этим людей порой, поит кофе (его брат в Швейцарии работает над техникой инженерии эспрессо, присылает новые сорта сюда, в La Dolceroma, - и скажу вам, это первый эспрессо, cafe normale, который могу пить в Риме, не горький и не кислый, не нуждающийся в сахаре). Стефано помог моей подруге найти врача, когда она нуждалась в помощи.

It takes nothing away for a human to be kind towards an animal. #kindness P.S:- I live in a very small town in India. And here we have soo many animals like street dogs,cows and goats roaming here and there. Sometimes they even sit in front of our doors and many a times we offer them our leftover meal. But when I moved out of my town to an urban city, the nature of the humans towards an animal is very contrasting. They used to hit these roaming innocents which I really found in human. This is almost similar to that of those terrorist attacking innocent humans. Just think about it. Just think with their perspective before hurting them. And please be kind to animals.
