I remember when I found my sister's copy of #HarryPotter #HarryPotterandtheSorcerersStone lying around the house. Based on the dating in the book, it was a gift from my parents for her 8th birthday. She never read it, so out of sheer curiosity, I picked it up and started reading. I think I must have been 7 or so when that happened. Harry Potter is the first series I ever read, and it's what helped transition me from children's books such as 'Cat in the Hat' and other Dr. Seuss works. Without Harry Potter, I know that I would've hated reading. I ordered the complete series on Amazon, and knew I had to reread this. It took me almost 3 months, but I've finished. I was in a dark corner of life in my childhood, but Harry Potter helped me see that I truly wasn't alone.
