I made a new friend today. That’s really the simplest way to put it. God just dropped this ray of sunshine into my world and she just blessed our socks off!! I had never had a conversation with her other than maybe a casual hello at church. And around 5pm, she messaged me on Facebook and wanted to bring dinner to our family. And she did just that!! Plus shared about two hours of her beautiful life with us, and we are so much better for it! She also brought me a pair of leggings. I’m not sure how I feel about that yet, LOL. She promises I’ll love them, haha. I’ve never worn a pair of leggings in my life. But the fact that she was brave enough to give a complete stranger her first pair of leggings makes her a really cool chick in my book. Caroline, thank you for your selfless kindness and unexpected generosity toward our family. Thank you for walking in obedience to your Heavenly Father. He’s having so much fun watching you respond to His call on your life. What if everything that happens in your life is part of a higher purpose? ⠀ Hi, my name is Alicia and I’m a recovering perfectionist, control freak, and pusher (not the ‘sell drugs to your kids’ pusher...but the ‘I’m going to make life happen on my timeline if it kills me’ pusher).⠀ ⠀ Can you relate?⠀ ⠀ When I was pregnant with Andie, I dreamed of coming back to Social Work part time. I put the wheels in motion and was almost able to reduce my hours before the position fell through. I tried again after Mat Leave. Nope. A big NOPE from my employer. Then I tried AGAIN. Writing a proposal to job share with a co worker...DENIED.⠀ ⠀ I remember feeling so FRUSTRATED. I had a plan and everything was getting in my way.⠀ ⠀ Fast forward 8 months and a part time position opened up in a field I’m super excited about. Taking that job led me to the opportunity to work PART TIME in my own small community (this has been a goal since I was doing my degree!).⠀ ⠀ I guess what I’m saying is... sometimes there is a bigger plan. A better plan. So the roadblocks that are popping up are there for a reason. The air smells the same...each inhale and exhale takes me back to 8 years ago. I have such vivid memories and deep emotions that are distant but yet so alive! I arrived in Costa Rica in 2009 for what was the start of my service in the United States Peace Corps. I remember the experience like it was yesterday as I was bursting with newly discovered purpose and also afraid of the unknown. A brief experience that was so life changing and the catalyst to a lot for me. Unfortunately, I didn't complete my full service due to medically unforeseen circumstances. However, this country will always hold a sweet place in my heart. So, it's only fitting that it's my 3rd time back since then.
