Wow what a day yesterday. The @londonmarathon was incredible! I felt extremely proud to be British. That’s what we are about. It was so hot for the runners & the crowds. What incredible support from everyone. Over a million spectators came to the streets of London to support & whether you handed me sweets, squirted me with water pistols, shouted my name in support or even stood quietly and watched I thank you all as having those crowds their was electric. At the 20 mile mark the heat for me was a real struggle, my head was pounding, my body was hurting & at that point I stopped a few times to walk as I was starting to feel unwell but the crowds who shouted to me to keep going we’re a real boost. At times it made the hairs on my arms stand on end as I was so proud of the uplifting encouragement. I also have to thank all the other runners. The atmosphere before, during & after was amazing. In those dark times a tap on the shoulder from other runners saying ‘come on mate you’ve got this’ or ‘we are all in this together buddy, let’s do this’ meant the world. We were all in it together & we were there to raise money for charity. Running with the Grenfall firefighters or an elderly man on crutches or a man with a wheelchair strapped to his back was so rewarding. Everyone should be extremely proud of what was achieved. A huge thank you to all the marshalls, medics & police for keeping us protected. People were dropping due to the heat but whilst running you felt safe as we could see what a great job you were doing. I also have to thank @childrens_trust for letting me run for them. They have supported me through the whole process and I look forward to what we will do together in the future. Thank you everyone who has sponsored. We have raised £2700 which smashed through my £2000 target. I know a few people still want to sponsor so my donation page is in my bio. I would love to hit £3000. Thank you so much to my friends who were there at the end. I’ve been asked so many times since finishing would you do it again & YES most definitely! London you are a beaut 😘 - What an amazing day and what a huge number of absolute heroes! - Just to put this beyond any doubt: running a marathon is not fun. It hurts, it challenges you physically to a level that you can’t really prepare for. If it was just the race, nobody would do it! - However: what you learn about yourself, the support from sooooo many people, the camaraderie with other runners and the unparalleled sense of achievement at the end is why people do it! - If your office, your home, or amongst your friends, someone has run the @londonmarathon today, they are a hero! - If you were one of the amazing number who were supporting runners - not just those that you knew - you are a hero too! - My client doesn’t have Instagram so won’t give him a ‘shout out’ but needless to say, completing it today made me a very proud trainer!! - London: sun out, people talking and being happy!
