I've always refrained from making polemical posts and political rants solely because I like to keep my opinions and judgements private. But this time I feel my silence weighing down upon me like a crime-I need to get this out there. Right from the Nirbhaya rape case in 2012, to the rape and murder of the 7 year old Zainab Ansari early this year ,to the kathua and Unnao rape cases that have come to the fore this week-What seems to be emerging is a rape culture and failure of society.You need only read the spine chilling charge sheet of the 8 year old Asifa who was abducted,gang raped and drugged several times and murdered, to see how low we have fallen.Go ahead,put your self in her shoes (-in the shoes of women who have been raped all over the world-she was just a child!!).Something like this would have never even crossed her mind that day when she woke up. What bugs me even more,especially this time is the fact that there is a section of our society (namelypolice support,lawyers,certain ministers) that defends and supports the rapists.I wonder where our country is headed!! I hope justice is swift and I appeal to you (YOU,who have been kind enough to read to the very end) to SPEAK OUT against the injustice to Asifa and her family-May all the criminals be rightly punished and that such an appalling act is never repeated again. *********************************** #thisNeedsToStop #justiceforAsifa #kathua
