I wanted to tell a story that would lift people up through a social message that would make a difference to every individual that saw the project. We wanted to make a difference and make something with a message. People are dying everyday at the hands of gun violence. Social unrest is at an all time high, children are killing and being killed. It was a tragic coincidence that the church shooting in South Carolina took place the day before our video was to release. I don't want to make films or music videos that glorify violence or guns. I'm not talking about hunting rifles, I'm talking about automatic/semi-automatic pistols and assault weapons. They don't belong in our society, and I don't feel that we should keep allowing constitutional rights to enable this constant flow of gun related violence to continue just so a select few can say, "I have the right to bear arms". Sadly, changing gun laws will not prevent this same violence from continuing, as it is deep seeded issues to do with government treatment of society as well as the individual chaos that comes from the suppressive existence that so many of our brothers and sisters are living in. This isn't about white or black, this is about all of us. There is so much beauty in this short, fragile life we have. As artists, I feel that it is our duty to connect and reconnect society and individuals with imagery that reminds us of who we are, and who we are to each other. Capo died in Chicago in a gang related shooting, but so did a child. Don't be afraid to say you don't want this anymore, rise to a higher level, and take those you love there with you. Stop the hate. Practice empathy, and know that nothing matters more than life itself, and all lives matter.
