Time for an appreciation post. Long time no post. I am currently attending #UGA for a degree in horticulture. Ever since I was in high school I had a garden. It all started with a 26x8 raised bed. I took a year break to really understand myself, and what I wanted to do with my life. It was during this time that my fascination with growing food came to be. I realized how important feeding yourself was, how expensive it was, and the quality of food you can get when you grow it yourself. Once I found that UGA had a horticulture degree with an emphasis on sustainable food production, I was onboard. I knew I wouldn’t be accepted without attending Georgia Gwinnett college and transferring; so I decided this was the path I would take. It took me 2 years of classes and half a year of waiting for transfer admission. The feeling I had when I saw that I was accepted, was indescribable. I was finally an #agdawg and one step closer to pursuing my dreams. While at Georgia Gwinnett college my love for plants progressed tenfold. I became interested in the farmers markets, community, and movement as a whole. I worked at Moe’s from the age of 16 until I was 21. This job gave me the inspiration to push on through the rough times, and accept them for what they are. Before I knew it, it was over, and I met Shaun @gratefulpastures . Working for this man has been one of the biggest blessings in my life, and I wouldn’t have been able to get there without the help of Moe’s. Being an assistant manager, and doing 25+ catering helped show me some responsibility; as well as what it meant to get the damn job done. With the support of my family, I have made my dreams come true. My parents have given me a place to live so I can have my own “trial market garden”. They have kept my rent very minimal, and I have always tried my best to be a team player. @mgaultt brothers for life. At your age, I didn’t know what I was going to do with my life. I am proud of the young man you have grown into, and for being understanding of who I am. Thank you @jentilicious02 for being there for me. @smylyfarms a dream come true. A part of this community forever.
