I havent had Jefferson's Ocean since voyage 1 and I'm not ashamed to say so. With their new offering being a wheated mashbill I figured I'd shell out the absurd price and give it a go. Welp... cant say I'll be having anymore of these at $95 a pop. While not a bad bourbon by any means this just doesnt warrant the price tag. Not even close. If youre looking for a big bold bourbon this is not your guy. The best way I can describe this is exceptionally soft. If I was just beginning to drink bourbon, I might just think this is fantastic. It has a pretty decent nose with cherries and cream with some vanilla and oatmeal, almost like a parfait. The entry is soft and stays extremely soft until the lazy finish. Again, someone just getting into whiskey might exclaim this to be the "smoothest drink ever". The wheat is really evident in this pour bringing a earthy grainy finish to a somewhat boring taste profile. If I was at a buddies I would probably drink this for free but there's no way Id buy again or even order at a bar, falling into the category that most Jeffersons expression do for me....avoid.... the story is better than the juice. Again. 6/10
