Spent the day trekking through the Kiso Valley, up and down the Nakasendō Trail. The Nakasendō Trail is one of several feudal highways that ran from Kyoto to Edo back in the olden days (think samurai). It was established in the 8th century and some parts of the highway are still intact with post towns that have buildings, shops, and restaurants that have been restored or kept in the traditional style of bygone eras. I’m on the part that runs from Magome to Tsumago and cannot recommend it enough. Check my stories for more on this beautiful place. #kisovalley #nakasendō
