The final photos from Pripyat. 1. The original sign entering the city. 2. A coffee shop by the water. It was supposed to be a symbol of the progressive city, with holes in the sign in preparation for putting neon lights in the sign. Never happened. 3. The water taxi stop behind the coffee shop. The boat that took you to Kiev, called the Rocket took 2x as long as a bus and cost 2x more, but the citizens loved it. Now most of the dock is underwater. 4. Inside a school classroom in Pripyat. 5. Inside a Soviet building left mostly untouched for 32 years. 6. The mosaic on the side of the theater in Pripyat, called the Prometheus theater. The mosaic shows a sun, likely a symbol of the USSR bringing the power of the sun to its people as Prometheus did. They forgot that Prometheus was chained to a rock for all eternity an eagle to eat out his liver every day. Did the Soviets endure such a fate? No. Once socialism fell after 100 million people were murdered, they became mobsters and politicians and lived happily ever after. 7. A light post in Pripyat.
