"Bird's don't have views like this to themselves anymore" This is the first #dronestagram from our #vannythevito journey through Spain and Portugal. The camera on a #drone maybe slightly challenged in high contrast scenes like this, even with a ND grad filter, but there are shots only possible with a drone. #dronephotography is revolutionising #travelphotography allowing us to reach places as photographers that we would never be able to, even with the most expensive camera. The weather, especially the high winds have meant some soul searching before flying at times. Even so, there has only been one occasion the drone remained grounded, running the risk of high velocity wind warnings on my smartphone controller screen. With care though, it is possible to still fly, even out over the ocean, allowing photos like this to be taken. The #fortedoguincho standing guard over the nearby #praiadoabano is photogenic from all angles, even at ground level. However, this view from the raging #atlanticocean is probably my favourite. Having spent a couple of days on the edge of the #sintranationalpark photographing the coast and the fort, and then finding this shot on the drone today was particularly pleasing. I could learn to love shooting with a drone, especially as flying them is such good fun. TIP: I'm still learning how to fly the two drones we own, but as with normal photography, it is preferable to have an idea in mind what it is you're hoping to shoot i.e. have a plan before take off.
