So how do we do this? What you ask...check out my previous post 😉 A starting point is meditative practice. We must pause. If we don’t, we’ll never see things clearly, and we’ll continuously take the wrong things too seriously, and the right things not seriously enough. Meditation and contemplation allow for clear seeing. It’s that simple and that powerful. And from there, we must get into nature, in whatever form. If we go into nature with clear seeing and an open heart, nature itself will pick it up from there, and work its magic. It’s different from just doing sport in nature. I did that for years and was dissatisfied, anxious and depressed despite spending hundreds of days each year outside. I was a slave to my conditioning and to my ‘ego’ mind. Our ego mind is basically our ‘should’ mind. I ‘should’ do this, I’m ‘suppose’ to do that. ‘If only I was faster, fitter, smarter I’d be happier’....not true. Tending to our soul doesn’t mean we have to give up our humanly pleasures or responsibilities, however, it simply means we can finally, truly enjoy them and not be a ‘hungry ghost’. I like beautiful things, good food, nice clothes, feeling fit, getting out into the mountains- many worldly pleasures. But when I prioritize my soul, these things all have unique meaning and depth. They’re not just superficial and their purpose is not just to ‘fit in’ because ‘I should’. Instead, these things make me feel alive and bring meaning. The only way though, is with clear seeing and an open heart. If our ego-minds are running the show, we don’t ever stand a chance to truly feel alive and connect. If it stays at the ego level, these things become a source of suffering.... Ultimately it’s all a choice, it’s hard work, the road less traveled, but worth every second 😉 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #naturetherapy #ecopsychology #natureperfection #breathtaking #mountainlife #mountainculture #travel #travelgram #explore #adventure #adventureawaits #mindfultravel #mindfulliving #fullappreciation #savourthemoment #wellness #holisticliving #selfstudy #personalgrowth
Thought I’d share some insights these mountains are putting me into contact with 🏔... We feed our bodies. We feed our minds, some of us feed our hearts, but so often we forget about our souls. Our souls are dying to be noticed and recognized. We have a deep longing inside of us. It’s ever present and more often than not, not acknowledged. It’s our inherent desire and need to connect. It’s a desire to feel connected, on a cellular level, with all that surrounds us. We’ve lost contact with how to even do this. Our limited ‘ego’ view tells us that we’ll feel connection when we’ve found a partner, or we’ll feel satisfied once we’ve done A, B, or C. But why then are so many of us dissatisfied in relationship when we’re with that person we thought would make us happy, and still unhappy once we’ve gotten our raise, travelled to the next cool country, climbed 5.14? It’s because we haven’t gone deep enough. We’ve remained at the level of our mind and our conditioning. Although well intentioned, having a partner or conquering a mountain, a bike trail, or getting a new job title, will not solely satisfy our deep desire to connect and feel alive. Being Type A does not bring happiness. Trust me, I’ve tried ;) So what will? It’s nature. We have a deep pull to be in contact with nature, but we’ve lost our connection with this. We need it to live, the way we need water and air. When I say ‘live’ I mean to feel ALIVE. That undercurrent of dissatisfaction lifts when we feel our aliveness. Those thoughts that ‘something is missing’ or ‘something must be wrong with me’ dissipate. When we are in direct contact with nature, quite simply, ‘all is well’. So how do we do this? ...read my next post to find out 😉 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #naturetherapy #ecopsychology #natureperfection #breathtaking #mountainlife #mountainculture #travel #travelgram #explore #adventure #adventureawaits #mindfultravel #mindfulliving #fullappreciation #savourthemoment #wellness #holisticliving #selfstudy #personalgrowth
