For those who are participating in the 3 day #waterfast with me, today is our prep day. Here is the basic guide to how we will be doing this:
March 20th - Preparation - Today you're going to want to eat light. Ease off of starchy, or fatty vegetables, and dense foods overall. I will be eating steamed vegetables all day. You'll start your fast after your last meal tonight and break it 72 hours later so you might want to have an early dinner.
March 21st, 22nd, 23rd - Fasting Days - These are your fasting days. You can drink water (and black coffee or tea if you choose but I don't recommend it). If a water-only fast is too intimidating for you, you can try drinking juices 2 or 3 times a day instead. Also you can try a 24 hour fast and wrap up on the 22nd. When you finish, break your fast with a fruit or something light.
March 24th - Easing Out - Doing a 3 day fast is like holding a stretch for 15 minutes; if you don't ease your way out of it, you can do more harm than good. Finishing your fast is the most important part so take at least a day or 2 to ease back into your regular diet. You can bream your fast with a fruit or something light and easy to digest. Eat the way you did during your preparation the next day; lightly steamed vegetables, juices and then gradually introduce more complex foods over the next day or 2.
