I love my job. Tuesday nights don't get better than tasting 75-year-old Mortlach at Claridges. Distilled on 17th November 1939, filled into cask 2475, just as war was breaking out, this is a real snapshot in time, and incidentally the oldest whisky ever bottled. Surprisingly vibrant for its age, full of orchard fruit, some citrus notes and just a touch of wood spice and vanilla custard with an unexpected touch of blue cheese. Just incredible. And only £20,000 on first release. .
