Day 422 Lyon Ella and I rested for almost the entire day. I listened to a lot of podcasts whilst Ella planned out here next few weeks and where to visit. The highlight of the day for me was fondue. Hot cheese in different forms makes me happy. To see an entire pot of molten goodness and have the aroma in the air certainly raises the spirits. With the infrequency of this delectable treat you have to prove your worth by not dropping your morsel of bread, or other cheese-extractor, off of your stick and into the lipid bath. Ella and I met with Louise and Yacine for Louise’s last night in Lyon; she had come for the festival but the stale beat of the work drum was calling. Actually, I think Louise likes her job; maybe I’m being dramatic. We kept things simple and visited the Roman theatre ruins before walking to La Bascilique Notre Dame de Fourvière where the Merci Marie sign was. It gives a fantastic view over the city and you can see pockets of light across the old town from each installation. I really enjoy it when friends come along for a stretch, typically I’m away for five to six months at a time so it’s great to have a friend with you and to share the experience.
